Los Alamitos, Calif., 15 June 2015 — Computer, the flagship magazine for the IEEE Computer Society, the world’s leading membership organization dedicated to computer science and technology, has been awarded the APEX 2015 Award of Excellence in the category Electronic Magazines, Journals & Tabloids.
APEX 2015, the 27th Annual Awards for Publication Excellence, is an international competition that recognizes outstanding publications from newsletters and magazines to annual reports, brochures, and websites.
According to the APEX 2015 judges, “The awards were based on excellence in graphic design, quality of editorial content, and the success of the entry in conveying the message and achieving overall communications effectiveness.”

The winning entry for Computer magazine was the April 2014 special issue on Aware Computing, guest edited by Bill Schilit of Google and Carl Chang of Iowa State University, highlighted the magazine’s leadership in exploring new cutting-edge technologies, discoveries, and innovations. As detailed in IEEE Computer Society’s winning entry: “With readership that includes over 100,000 technology professionals, Computer covers all aspects of computer science, computer engineering, computing technology, and applications.
